Vanessa Hudgens is a young actress, hit the headlines when some nude photos of her appeared on the internet.

And this says it all, really. After the poor girl was made to apologize for unknowingly becoming the masturbation aid of ugly middle-aged men the world over, the papers helpfully clarified that she was a star of those High School Musical films and stuff. We were supposed to be outraged that a girl in a family film let someone take photos of her with her bubblies hanging out. She's supposed to be a role-model, after all. The fact that your children shouldn't be surfing nude websites, never tends to occur to the moral majority.

So, did this rigmarole impact Vanessa's career? Well, no. She's in High School the Musical, High School the Musical 2, and now High School the Musical 3 - which will probably do even better box office thanks to a sudden influx of sweaty middle-aged men clutching tissues. So she's doing pretty much what she did before, except enjoying a higher profile than most of her co-stars. Not the toughest break.

Also, she's just getting her career change in early. Any child or teen star has to do something 'risky' to shed their kid image and be taken seriously as a mature actor. Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe swung his todger around the London stage recently. McCaulay Culkin did that film where he used the f-word or something. Natalie Portman got her baps out in a few Indie films to banish memories of Heat and Leon.

If Hudgens has committed any mistake, it's that she's messed with the Mouse, which anyone in the legal profession will tell you is a Bad Plan. But fundamentally, she got away with it. She kept her job, got a hugely inflated public profile, and will stick in casting directors' minds when otherwise she could just have been another soulless cutie in a Disney film.

The girl is hot, and the pictures are not displeasing to the eye. If her film career does hit the skids, she's never going to be short of work.

There are very few actresses who haven't got the odd skeleton in their cupboard - Vanessa's have come out at an early stage of her life when she's doing popcorn crap that will wither as quickly as it blossomed - this would all have had a bit more impact if she was playing Lady Macbeth on Broadway.
